it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love how curious, resilient, and eager to learn my students are. Every day, they come into the classroom ready to take on challenges, ask thoughtful questions, and support one another as they grow. Many of them are bilingual, learning to read, write, and express themselves in both English and Spanish. This journey is not easy—it requires tremendous focus, patience, and courage—but they rise to the occasion with determination and heart. For my students, books are more than just learning materials—they’re windows into new worlds and mirrors that reflect who they are. Each donated book is a powerful tool that helps them build vocabulary in both languages, deepen comprehension, and make meaningful connections to their own lives and cultures. These books, in particular, help bridge the gap between reading to learn and loving to read, allowing students to share what they’re reading with their families and feel proud of their accomplishment. Reading helps students develop a stronger sense of identity and belonging, especially when they see characters who face challenges. The confidence they gain from understanding a story or recognizing a word in English carries over into every part of their academic journey. These books are more than just pages—they’re stepping stones to greater self-expression, academic success, and a lifelong love of learning. Every donation brings my students one step closer to feeling empowered and excited about their education. Thank you for helping create that opportunity for them.
