English as a Second Language Books

Help me give my students that are learning English as their second language simplified and illustrated versions of classic stories.

My Project

For immigrants trying to learn English, one of the greatest obstacles they face at school is comprehension. They are asked to read challenging texts in their language arts classes and be able to complete work on them, when they are just learning basic phrases in English. One of my goals as their ESL teacher is to inspire a love for reading so that I can get them practicing reading the new language. These books would give them simplified reading with illustrations to help them understand these great stories.

These texts are used in the general educations classes, so having a simplified version for ESL students would help bridge the language barrier and provide more equatable access to education to minority language learners.
