My Students

My library runs as a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) lab where students think like engineers and use hands-on learning to solve problems. We work through trial and error and lots of discovery-based learning.

I am amazed every day at the resiliency of our students!

I also teach a non-verbal Autism class each week and we are always thinking of new ways to help communicate with the students. I am impressed each and every day with our students' love for learning and creating.

My Project

My students love to build! We love learning about architecture and engineering around the world. This year we looked at bridges and learned everything from abutments to suspension to beam bridges.

We have an entire unit on architecture around the world where we look at famous landmarks and study the building process.

We need tools like Q-BA marble mazes, KEVA wooden structures building kits, and a Gears! building set to spark our love of engineering and inspire us to build for the future based on the storybooks that we read in the library. I love to tell my students that the pyramids, skyscrapers in NYC, and our National Monuments were all built by engineers who studied math and science. The best part of building is not only the standards behind it but the creativity that it allows students to unleash. Thank you for your support as we work to become the engineers of tomorrow!
