it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Talking about how to solve problems is fine, but actually building a way to solve the problem is so much more powerful!
I teach 24 wonderful first grade students at a Title 1 school in San Jose, CA.
Most of my students are learning English as a second language. My students love to be active and to get their hands on anything they can. My school is focusing on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities as a way to engage our students and help them learn.
My Project
I am asking for a Fairy Tales Problem Solving STEM Kit. This kit will have books on popular fairy tales like the 3 Little Pigs. After hearing the story the students will get to use the supplies in the kit to construct their own houses. They need to build a house that the wolf can't blow down! It will be so amazing to watch the students try different designs! I know that they will be very engaged with this kit!
Your donation of this kit will help my students connect with engineering.
Many people think that engineering is to difficult for first graders. With this kit we will be able to show everyone that first graders ARE engineers!
More than half of students from low‑income households
