Help me give my students LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 which comes with many different tools to code and create as well as coding lessons and examples of guided projects that relate to Next Generation Standards.
I am so excited to share my AIG classes with you were I serve students in grades 3-5. These are children who are willing and eager to learn. They come to me each day asking and begging for more creative and interesting tasks. The schools I work at consist of Kindergarten through 5th grade with approximately 60% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We have to show students we want them to grow and become leaders of our community one day. What I enjoy about my students is they are willing to try new ways of learning in order to understand new concepts.
Students need new, interesting and fun ways of learning in order for concepts and ideas to stick.
This year I plan on engaging students in many activities, projects, and experiments. Examples of these engaging activities include BreakOut EDU, STEM, and providing students with different types of literature as well as relating our learning to everyday life.
My Project
Providing my students with WeDo 2.0 will give them the opportunity they would otherwise would not have. Coding is a skill all of our students should be learning as out world is becoming more of a digital community. Through LEGO WeDo 2.0 my students will be able to strengthen their skills in fine motor, problem solving, collaboration, researching, spatial awareness and much more.
Using this LEGO WeDo kit will "ignite creativity, develop critical-thinking skills, explore career possibilities, and simply get hands-on STEAM experience."
This kit will help make abstract engineering and science concepts concrete, through collaboration and problem solving. This kit can also will help prepare my students as they begin to think about their careers and the skills they will need to have in order to be successful.
