This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a class of 23 super excited second graders - 13 girls and 10 boys. 8 students receive reading intervention and 1 student receives services for special needs. Our school is Title I (84% qualify for reduced-price/free lunch) and is located in a large urban city. Students have very limited home access to books and technology.

Our recent study of inventors and how technology has impacted our lives have sparked a fire in my students.

We would love materials to "STEAM" ahead and invent something of our own...ROBOTS!

My Project

Have you ever wanted to build your own robot from scratch? Well, my 2nd graders would LOVE to build some robots using the "Original Bristlebots Introductory Robotics Kits"! These kits will allow students to build fun, small robots that buzz along a flat surface.

What better way could students learn about science and design processes than to build their own ROBOTS!

Not only will students build their own robots, but students will learn about engineering as they are encouraged to try different robotics designs. Since Bristlebot kits are highly customizable, students can use the kits to create one robot style, then take it apart to try a different version. These Bristlebots will bring a new level of excitement to science learning!
