Engineering and Design of Eco-Friendly Hydroponics/Compost System - Pt.5
Help me give my students a compost machine and raspberry pi to create an autonomous compost system.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Lober's classroom raised $782

My Project
To continue in our venture of creating a hydroponics system accessible to our school and neighborhood, we need additional hardware, tools, specific clothing, and pieces for the teachers and students involved in building and maintaining our hydroponics system.
In preparation for this, we require proper equipment to build and operate the hydroponic systems inside and outside the classroom and being run autonomously.
In order to do this, we want to use an automatic composter that can connect to a raspberry pi computer to give updates on the process of how it is being composted. In addition, we need a scanner to connect to the raspberry pi to give IDs for each plant to log their progress in a data chart for students to track and learn about Data Science and its involvement in sustainability.
As part of our Carbon-Neutral Goals and Sustainability-Centered Curriculum, we are striving to educate the students on how to build and maintain a hydroponics system for themselves and the community surrounding us.
With classes all day filled with hands-on and visual learners, what better way to teach the plant unit than by implementing a hands-on unit that entails planting and caring for hydroponics and compost systems?
Every bit will help my students vastly improve our school's involvement in climate-change education through the use of engineering and technology.
On top of being a part of the solution where we develop sustainable forms of gardening, this is a way for my students to give back to the community that surrounds our school. There is no better service project than beautifying our footprint in the neighborhood.
