My Project
Engineering Drafting Tools such as Scale Rulers, drafting vellum, drawing compass' and 30/60 degree Drafting Triangles are needed to introduce the basic fundamentals of a design process. Students will gain technical hand skills in learning how to draft a 3D isometric orthographic working drawing from a 2D sketch. Learning how to measure with an architectural scale ruler and an engineering scale ruler is another important skill to learn. Many opportunities for today's labor force can be found in the fields of engineering. It is within these fields that learning how to sketch an idea from a dimensional concept into a dimensional detail drawing finds its widest applications. Drafting, like mathematics, is a medium of precise communication. These students are learning how to interpret and make working drawings such as building plans, blueprints, product diagrams, etc. Learning how to make a technical working drawing (shop drawing) is an important part of the process of making accurate models, mock-ups, and prototypes to finish working models. (Functional prototypes) This class focuses on learning about various industries that use working drawings to communicate an idea.
