My students are pre-engineering students and architecture students interested in applying their math and science skills in a hands-on learning environment. As their teacher, I am always searching for new and innovative ways to keep them up to date in this world of ever adapting technology.
We are currently looking to add modern tools and materials that will expand our learning of how objects are designed.
Our hands-on learning activities have incorporated the design of structures and vehicles in the past.
My Project
We have been setting up an Additive and Subtractive Manufacturing Lab here at our school! We are working hard to get everything up and running with a lot of support from our school, DonorsChoose and Donations from 3M. We recently fund raised and received a laser cutter for the Subtractive Manufacturing lessons.
We have found that we need a standalone off-network tower to run our laser cutter software for it to be the most effective.
A tower that will run programs like AutoCAD 2018 and other Computer Aided Design programs and other programs would be the best.
Students have specified that the selected tower will be a great tool that will serve its purpose for the life of the laser cutter we have already fund raised for.
