This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic 7 and 8-year-olds who are excited about learning. They love to read and write and engage in conversation with their peers. They are eager to read both literature and nonfiction and write about what they’ve read. Many of my students began elementary school without foundational reading skills, but they have been working hard to attain grade level standards. Most of my students are second language learners. Reading in the classroom is essential to their continued success!
My Project
My students are in the STEM Magnet because they have a deep interest in science and engineering. In order to master the rigorous engineering standards, my students need multiple opportunities to engage in hands-on projects.
Many of these explorations require a large quantity of materials that my school doesn't have the budget to acquire.
My students are able to participate in cost-effective activities, such as the pumpkin drop experiment or building gingerbread houses, but I would like to give them opportunities to create more complex structures.
The STEM amusement park and roller coaster kits are high interest and rigorous tools for engineering. They will allow my students new opportunities to explore this exciting subject!
