My Students

My first graders are very curious and engaged learners. They come from many different backgrounds and are all unique and special. Our class consists of general education students as well as students with special needs.

Our school district emphasizes five guiding principles: be respectful, responsible, hardworking, honest, and compassionate.

These non-cognitive behaviors are necessary in order for children to achieve academic success and a productive future. Through modeling and social coaching, I see my first graders grow in these behaviors every day!

My Project

Hokki Stools will provide my students alternative seating to help meet the needs of the active learners. The stools will help create an engaging learning environment and help children focus.

Hokki Stools will help improve students' attention and focus as well as improve posture and trunk control by engaging the core.

In the product description, it states that the stools "transform stationary sitting into an activity." When children are given the opportunity to move, they are better able to engage their mind and attend to a cognitive task.

I have already started offering flexible seating to my students and these stools would provide more choice and support for their needs.
