Engaging Virtual Resources

My Students

I will be teaching 1st grade students from our building whose parents opted for virtual learning. This is the first time we have have ever offered something like this and I can't wait to meet my new class!

We come from a district where 58% of our students within the school receive free and reduced lunch.

We have also seen an increase in single parent families. With this being said, we hope to get as many online resources as we can to make this an easy and smooth transition. Most importantly we want to make sure they get a strong education online.

My Project

Close to the end of the 2020 school year, we all left our classrooms thinking we would be back in a few weeks, only to find out that we were never going to be a class again. Having to teach during a global pandemic is nothing I ever anticipated having to do. Just as I am sure today's kids never expected to experience either. For the upcoming school year my district offered parents a virtual schooling option. We had almost 30% of our districts students opt in. With that being said, all of those students needed teachers! This year I will be teaching 1st grade virtually. Most of the resources I have are worksheets and paper copies.

Your contribution will allow me to provide a variety of engaging lessons and activities for my 1st graders to do this year digitally through the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards.

For reading we will be able to purchase digital games and activities that they can access online. They will also have reading passages and a comprehension piece they can access. These will align with our common core standard for first grade. We will also be able to choose some math games, boom cards, and task cards. These are slides that students will be able to log on and play for practice. I will be able to purchase updated virtual files that they will be able to easily access on our digital platform daily. I am hoping to get some cross-curricular resources too (social studies/science)! My goal is to make this a memorable year for them, and not just because they are going to school online.
