Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth-grade ESL students are amazing! They are inquisitive, determined, and extremely caring. Even though many experience daily challenges with the English language, which oftentimes makes learning more difficult, they know that they can be successful in school and in life. Even with financial challenges, language barriers, and stress from parent work schedules, my students carry positive attitudes and have caring hearts. With hard work, determination, and quality materials, my students have the tools to be productive members of society. They want to learn and they want to be successful.
My Project
All Students will experience Science with hands-on learning. My students will explore Science through the use of daily journal writing, observation sheets, and multiple science tools that will help challenge student predictions and questions. Microscopes will be used to identify and analyze specimens, compare and contrast specific items, and describe characteristics of different species. Students will observe changes in plants and document observations with illustrations and summaries.
Science is a way of thinking!
All students need opportunities to explore, examine, and share ideas and question those ideas through observation, individual understanding and higher-level thinking.
