This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am an ESL teacher so that means my students are very diverse. Most of my students are immigrants or refugees and this makes for a very special and extraordinary classroom. They are very different yet so similar in so many ways. Our classroom is enriched by the different cultures, experiences and languages they all represent. They are so eager to share their experiences and learn new ones.
As a newcomer in this country they can sometimes feel overwhelmed and intimidated at times.
This is why it is important for me to help them with not only their education, but also their assimilation to our way of life in North America.
My Project
The use of a streaming camera in my classroom is essential for me to be able to teach my students at home, while simultaneously teaching the students in person in my classroom. As we move into Plan B in our district , this is one of the biggest challenges: How do we teach equitably to all of our children. My students will also benefit from a book of stories where they can see themeselves reflected in and with which they can relate. I truly believe this will spark their interest in erading and give way to greater literacy achievements.
