This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach fourth graders at a Title I STEM school. My students are amazing problem-solvers and creative thinkers that love the opportunity to collaborate in hands-on learning. Though my students fall at various academic levels, I am constantly amazed by their ability to design creative solutions to problems.
On any given day, you will usually find my students working on projects in groups using various tools and technology.
I love watching my students build community and support each other in their learning.
My Project
Graphic novels have lit the love of reading within my students, and they're hungry for more! I am requesting several new and exciting graphic novels, as well as a few series sets to replenish the well-loved books that have slowly disappeared from my classroom library.
The graphic novels, along with some exciting hands-on science materials, will reignite a passion for learning in my students.
The science supplies I have requested are focused on two upcoming projects: 1) Fossil samples for analysis in our fossil unit, and 2) Circuitry supplies (LEDs, wires, and batteries) to help light our upcoming cardboard city project (the rest of the cardboard city will be recycled or repurposed materials).
