This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a large school with 900 students who all qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch. I teach 24 1st graders who are English Language Learners. My students come from families with limited resources but a vast desire for their children to succeed. Parents often work two and three jobs to make ends meet. When I talk to them, I see the hope they have for their children to have a better life. Despite the hardships my students face, they come to school eager to learn and with a smile on their faces. My goal as their teacher is to foster a life-long love for learning and encourage them to be risk-takers.
My Project
Technology at our school is very limited. These 2 Chromebooks would be shared among all students allowing them to access information needed to complete classroom projects.
Using Chromebooks will help us close the achievement gap by providing students with equal access to resources.
Equal access allows us to increase and accelerate learning for all students.
My first grade students will use Chromebooks as a tool for differentiated instruction and promote students access to technology. Students will use the Chromebooks across subject areas, working on personal goals in reading, writing, math, and content areas. This technology provides an engaging learning experience for students while promoting equity.
