Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a lively group of 23 eager learners at public school where 100% of students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. All my students come from low socioeconomic status families who believe in education as the tool that holds the promise of a better future for their children.
My students come every day to school with the attitude to learn and have the aptitude to become successful productive citizens of this country.
It is my goal to provide them with the best quality education.
Collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking are key skills that I explicitly and implicitly teach to my students. They work hard every day to grow holistically while displaying these skills that will prepare them for life.

My Project
Teaching and learning are enhanced and student engagement increases when technology is used in all subject areas. When in the past I used a microphone, for example, for the students to read aloud, they were more engaged and wanted to improve their reading expression by listening to themselves and peer-to-peer feedback.
The QBall throwable microphone and wireless speaker that I am requesting will make reading more fun and students will be more eager to read as they wait for their turn to pass the ball around to listen to themselves and correct each other's reading.
The camcorder will allow them to see and listen to themselves while showing their skills. It will also allow me as a teacher leader to record lessons and share with others through social media and within my school.
Finally, the microscope will give us a tool to observe cells and microorganisms that my students have not been able to explore with a hands-on approach because we don't have one.
