Engaging Students In Civics Education

My students need books on civics education.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of middle school students in an urban district. They are quirky and interesting young ladies and gentlemen. Each with unique learning needs. They come from all backgrounds and many different countries around the world.

The students at my school all receive one hundred percent free breakfast and lunch.

We have a Catie's Closet which provides students who need new clothing and personal items. These kids need a lot of support to get them through the day, but they are worth it!

My Project

The standards for eighth grade Social Studies in MA are changing. I need new curriculum in order to plan engaging lessons for my classes. It is an exciting change and I am looking forward to teaching civics to my eighth grade students.

My students need a class set of books.

Documents of Freedom: A Look at the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the U.S. Constitution is that set. Students will be able to access the information about these founding documents in the books as we begin to study and learn about civics together through hands-on activities and document analysis.
