My Students

I teach second grade at an elementary school near Salt Lake City, Utah. The students I teach are energetic, excited about learning and unendingly curious. I love helping them explore new ideas and create connections to the world.

I love being able to provide my inquisitive and creative students opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering and math.

Incorporating STEM into our learning helps to improve student engagement and authentic learning opportunities. Having appropriate materials makes incorporating those STEM learning activities more effective.

My Project

Having appropriate STEM materials in my classroom will provide my students opportunities to explore and learn in a hands on way.

Engaging materials such as Brain Flakes, magnetic tiles, and engineering sticks will allow my students to build and create 3D models of things we are studying.

It is so exciting to give students a challenge of creating a 3D representation of a something we are learning in our content, for example the water cycle, and to see all the representations they come up with. I know that creating these representations helps them build more effective pathways of understanding in their brains.
