This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us step away from the old school way of testing. We don't want to sit and look at a piece of paper to learn. Help us communicate, as we don't have the words to say what we need or want.

We are a developmental preschool in a lower income district in AZ.

The students are full of life and love to come to school every day. Some of the students are nonverbal and struggle to communicate even basic needs and wants. Others are students with speech delays. Some students don't want to take the time to get their present levels, as exciting as I try to make it, and it just isn't working.

My Project

I am requesting an iPad for the classroom. This device is amazing and I have seen what it can do with my students. They are more engaged in material, and they are more able to communicate. The best part about this is that you can test their abilities with interactive games, rather than the old paper and pencil tests. The majority of my class struggles with speech and language issues, and having fun games to play to increase their abilities, as well as give them the means to communicate their needs would help them get a handle on language.

Donations to this cause will help students with speech difficulties succeed and communicate with teachers and peers.

I have seen the impact technology can have on unmotivated learners. The twinkle in their eyes when you have the iPad center available is amazing! They are engaged and ready to "play". Help our students communicate and learn through new technology.
