My students need 30 individual whiteboards and markers so they can be fully engaged in biology lessons.

Do you remember your experiences in high school science classes? You probably were actively engaged in lessons due to interesting lab equipment, technology, and of course your fabulous teachers. At my school students enter a science lab with very little resources. Your support can enrich our lab!
The mission of my Charter School is to foster a diverse community of learners through a rigorous academic program that promotes an understanding of business, multi-cultural awareness, and foreign language fluency, while preparing our students to succeed in global commerce.
The majority of our students are on free/reduced price lunch and come from poverty. We are a start-up school with very little resources in the classrooms. Our students are highly motivated to work hard to get smart and come from all over the city of New Orleans seeking a high quality education.
When I am up in front of the room teaching, I like to have everyone involved. If each student has a whiteboard and a marker, they can answer questions and show me. I can then see right away who needs extra help. My students enjoy using whiteboards. They are held accountable for their own learning. Individual whiteboards will help me, as a teacher, know what is going on in every scholar's head immediately. Whiteboards also help make science lessons more fun and engaging as students can be directly involved in our guided practices. They are great fun for rapid fire practice of vocabulary, genetics problems, cell part identification and much more! Powerful teaching includes having every child involved in his or her own learning. Using individual whiteboards, the students are all involved in the lesson. It is also an easy and quick way for me, as the teacher, to check work and see the students are getting what I am teaching.
My hardworking and scientifically curious 9th graders need your help!
Our science lessons can be more engaging and interactive with the help of a class set of whiteboards and markers! My classroom doesn't even have writable chalkboards at the moment, let alone a front of class whiteboard. Allowing each student their own whiteboard will help with my guided practice and individual practice portions of the lesson each day.
