Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our third grade class is made up of an amazing group of students including ESL, gifted, special needs, and dyslexic children. Our school is in a high poverty school district. Funds are often not available for extra materials needed in the classroom.
Many of our students are at-risk and receive free or reduced price lunches.
Often they come to school without the supplies needed for class. In spite of these hardships, they are eager to learn and absorb information like sponges.
Their futures are bright, and they work hard to learn the things they need to know in order to be successful. These students love coming to school and being with their peers. Every day they come into class ready to learn something new and excited!
My Project
Our class is filled with creativity and we are always in need of ink for our printer so that we can show off all of our talents. Students love printing their work to take home to put on the fridge or share with family.
Creating engaging lessons that will inspire students to learn and retain important skills is what try to do when we have a room transformation.
Our students may walk into Candyland to learn math concepts using candy and games. Other times we will learn to be a reading detective or spy and find text evidence. Finding pirate treasure by answering questions and locating clues will help them learn math and reading skills.
