Engaging Robotics for Future Engineers

My students need engaging robotics kits to teach computer science and engineering.

My Students

My student's represent many cultures from around the world. Our school is 100% free lunch and we have a large immigrant and refugee population. My students are highly motivated and highly passionate about STEM. They love hands on experiences and are interested in all things technology and engineering, especially robotics and real world technology. I hope to inspire my students to continue their education in STEM fields and STEM careers by creating a rigorous engineering and computer science program where we combine science with creativity.

My Project

My project includes a class set of robotics kits and batteries to power the robots. The robotic kits will teach students important engineering and technology skills such as computer science and electronics. The kit includes a graphical programming language to introduce students to computer programming and the robots allow the students to see their programming come to life. This takes conceptual ideas like loops and if then statements and applies them to the sensors and motors in the robot.

Students will work collaboratively to program and problem solve their way through engineering challenges.

Having 1 robot per 2 students in each class allows the students to work collaboratively and communicate their ideas to their classmates (another skill important for STEM careers). My students are incredibly interested in robotics and this will inspire them for their future education and careers.
