Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students and I love a good engaging lesson. They love to get moving out of their seats and show their competitive side! In the past, they have enjoyed playing "darts" and seeing which team can earn the most points while reviewing concepts learned previously in class. I am always looking for new ways to bring excitement to our classroom.

There is a very cool game I recently learned about at a professional development session where students will answer a question and with the correct answer, they will be able to use a spoon and gather as many pom-poms as they can and bring them back to their table.

This game continues until all questions have been answered. The team with the most pom-poms wins! This game will utilize the pom-poms, bowl and spoon. The cup stacking game will work very similarly. It is another excellent option for review while making students excited about learning!

The colored paper will be used to print the review game questions on. It makes it a little more exciting than the typical white paper they see every day. The game buzzers will be used for me to record myself with some reminders and/or helpful hints when I work with students in stations. This will allow me to work with smaller groups while other students can move about throughout the stations with minimal teacher assistance - activating their productive struggle. I would really love to work with my struggler learners without stopping my students who are progressing through our curriculum.
