Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Downtown Long Beach is such a diverse and changing community. My school happens to be right in the heart of it. I work with 12-14 year olds in English Language Arts. Our school has the largest English language learner population of any school in our school district. We are also a Title I school, meaning most of our students come from low-income families. Most of my classes have more than 50% English language learners. This creates a unique challenge to teaching English and means my lessons need to be packed with visuals and engaging topics and materials for students to think, talk, and write about.
The last two years have been exhausting!
Creating resources to support my students and keep them learning-whether from home or in the classroom has been challenging and there never seems to be enough time.
Having access to Teachers Pay Teachers resources where teachers share their materials that work would help to lighten my load and support my students' learning.
My Project
I'm exhausted! In the last two years I have been a classroom teacher, a virtual teacher, a hybrid teacher, tech support, a motivational speaker, and a cheerleader all in my effort to support students and continue their learning during the pandemic. Whether students were learning from home or in the classroom, I have redesigned curriculum and materials to meet them where they are, their needs and the unique obstacles of this difficult time.
I need help!
Teachers Pay Teachers is a great resource that educators use to share their materials, tried and true ideas, posters, handouts, and plans all to better support students and share what works for real learning.
