Engaging Reluctant Readers at K-W

Help me give my students great stories to read that connect to the content we are working on in our intervention classes. My students need good, engaging stories.

My Project

Some students at K-W need some extra support in reading classes. Here at K-W, we are so lucky to have the opportunity to have the ability to differentiate for all students in grades 5-8 that may need additional reading support.

Reading is a way for us to not only see stories about ourselves, but also learn about others.

As this program continues to evolve, Ms. Quam and I are working on making longer works of literature fun and engaging for these readers.

We've selected sets of novels (and a few engaging nonfiction books) that connect to the intervention workshops we use in our classes. These novels will help support their continued learning on some really great essential questions like: What are the perks of being a part of a team? and Why do writers share stories about their lives?

Mrs. McAnally will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 6.
