My class is like a beehive. If you came in and just watched, you'd see 25 students buzzing around with an intense focus on completing the task at hand.
My students are curious, energetic, and hardworking.
During our lessons they hang on to every word. They want to learn and it shows in the questions they ask about what we're learning. Sometimes their questions go so deep, that I'm caught off guard and have to come back with an answer later. If they're working independently, it's almost as if each of them is in their own bubble. They don't break their focus until they're finished working or need assistance. When they work in groups, they find ways for everyone to be involved. They effortlessly assign tasks and work together with ease to complete their assignment.
My Project
I am asking for classroom subscriptions to Time for Kids and Scholastic Magazine. These magazines feature engaging, relevant articles. We will use the magazines throughout the year across subjects. Students will be able to use the articles to independently practice the reading skills we learn. They will also use the articles as resources to support their own informational and argumentative writing. Additionally, many of the topics that will be covered in the magazines this year align with topics that we will be covering in science and social studies.
With your help, every student will receive a copy of each magazine weekly.
Your support of this project will consistently provide my students with engaging and timely nonfiction reading materials for the entire school year.
