This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Some of my students are wonderful readers who are capable of reading at a faster pace and a higher level than many others. When I think about the restriction put on these students because of their financial difficulties, my heart goes soft.
All I want to do,is give my students the love of reading and encourage their interests.
If I could get the books that they have personally requested from me, I know that I could show them that their opinions matter.
My Project
My students are interested readers. They have reread their favorite books almost 4 times already. They are constantly on the lookout for new and exciting adventures through text, but are finding their lack of options disappointing.
I want to give them the ability to choose.
I want to be able to ask them what books interest them, and supply them with those books. The love of reading is nurtured and grown. These students work hard and deserve the chance to have what they cannot get for themselves.
Many of their parents would love to be able to buy these books for their students, but are simply unable to do so. Help me as I give them a little extra joy!
