Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Since I teach Pre-K, this is the first year of school for the majority of my students. As many of my students come into the school year nervous and uneasy, I want to provide a classroom and environment that is warm, inviting, engaging and safe!
Our principal, the teachers, and the entire school community have turned our school from a "failing" school into a school on the rise.
Many of my students come from incredibly challenging homes. One hundred percent of the school receives free lunch, and many of our students live in homeless shelters, foster homes, etc. Our school runs a food pantry for our families and also provides many students with backpacks filled with supplies. Despite these challenges, my students love to learn and love to be at school. With these materials, I feel as though my students will come into a classroom they can call home for the year.
My Project
For my students, this is their first year of school. Read Aloud's and books are so important in Pre-K! It is so important for me to really get my students enjoying read aloud's! Why not get our youngest students to love reading at such a young age! All of these books that I am asking for, are related to our units of study. They are so important in order to begin to get our students engaged in learning about our units of study. The first unit's of study in Pre-K set up our students for success. Books are books no matter whether its learning from home, or school! I can not wait to read my students these exciting pieces of literature!
