This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember getting lost in a good story? My students need engaging read aloud books that capture their imagination.

My students are low-income English learners who enjoy school, but struggle with reading.

Most of my students are reading one to two years below grade level. They love read aloud time and it captures their attention. I want to help students maintain this love of books by hooking them in with imaginative stories by great authors.

My Project

I'm requesting a 37 read aloud books to use throughout the year. These books range in theme and genre, but all have one thing in common, an engaging story that offers my students another world in which to get lost. Books include The Egg by M.P. Robertson and Max's Words by Kate Banks, as well as many others that capture the imagination.

Without good books and hearing great stories, our students will not learn the love of reading.

These books will help me teach students to appreciate a good book, but also to comprehend books at high reading levels.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
