Help me give my students books to help them understand the importance of social distancing, as well as technology materials to maximize their distance learning experience.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a diverse first grade, integrated collaborative teaching (ICT) class, with a combined mixture of general and special education students at a large, high-needs, Title I school in the north Bronx. Although the majority of students come from low-income homes or from homes with limited parental involvement, they are enthusiastic and truly come to school every day ready to learn. These children see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and strive daily to make me proud.
My 24 first graders are some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Not only do several of them struggle with unstable home lives, but many cope with various disabilities, such as ADHD, autism, and speech and language impairments. These kids inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.
My Project
This document camera will allow me to more effectively teach my young special education students. Since much of our instruction is happening live online, I need a way to clearly model strategies. The camera will also allow me to bring our read alouds to life! By being able to see the pictures and words clearly will help my emerging readers. I am also requesting several books related to the pandemic so that I can help my little learners truly understand the importance of social distancing and wearing a mask.

When working from home, I don't have all of the necessary tools that I have in my classroom. These resources will allow me to reach my students and share learning with them, no matter where we are.
