Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students have such a love for learning. They love using hands-on materials and love expressing their creativity in many ways. My students are curious, love to ask questions and are problem solvers. Although their job is to learn, I have learned so much from them, and I am so lucky to be their teacher!

My Project

These resources are great math manipulatives that allow students to be creative and encourage deep thinking. For example, the magnatiles allow students to build whatever they want. Even though it may seem like a toy, students can learn so much with magnatiles, like shape recognition, problem solving, creativity, symmetry and so much more.

My plans with the blocks is to use as a math center/play center.

There are so many benefits to having a block center in the classroom. Like the magnatiles, blocks can also teach students about shapes, creativity, problem solving, etc. Having a block center also encourages group play, so it can teach students about sharing and working cooperatively.
