Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are honors level students in a low-income area who are working hard, some very hard with jobs and more, to make better lives for themselves and get into a good college. They are hardworking, compassionate, and determined.
Many of my students come from a disadvantaged background, with a 65% economic disadvantage; there are students who will be the first in their family to go to college.
They know this and every day to them is a day to improve their lives and the lives of those they love.
My Project
Teachers Pay Teachers is a resource site with curriculum and resources designed by teachers for other teachers. This resource has proved to be invaluable to me in the past as there are many teachers with years more experience that have created resources based on their own in-class experiences. I often spend over $100 a year on Teachers Pay Teachers resources to help make my normal curriculum more engaging, to address social and emotional issues, to add fun and challenging exploration activities, and to find new and exciting projects to for the students to enjoy. This next year I have been given two new classes in which I have no resources for.
I am asking for gift cards for Teachers Pay Teachers to purchase curriculum resources, games, projects, and exploration activities for my two new classes.
Being able to purchase these resources, which are peer reviewed and tried and true, saves me hours and hours of time which can be put into even more creation of great learning resources for my classes. I know I will most likely spend above and beyond the requested gift cards because of the two new classes, but it will definitely give me a great starting point to an awesome and fulfilling year for both me and my students.
