Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students love reading but need access to a diverse range of texts, especially in Spanish! We would love subscriptions to science, social studies and Spanish Scholastic News Magazines in English and Spanish, to use during our literature circles.
Our students have a wide range of talents and many different learning styles that we celebrate!
We are committed to social justice and racial equality. Our student body reflects the socioeconomic, language and racial diversity that is present in New York City.
My Project
My students are motivated readers, but don't have access to a ranges of texts in Spanish. We would love to be able to read magazines in Spanish. By getting subscriptions to popular science and social studies magazines, we will be able to access the online Spanish translation of each magazine!
During our daily literature circles, students will be able to interact with current events and interesting science articles in Spanish.
They will use the magazines to help them increase their levels of reading comprehension, and Spanish vocabulary. We can't wait to get our hands on the Scholastic News magazines and begin to discuss world events in Spanish!
