Engaging Learners with Technology

Help me give my students an iPad and case so my students have the technology they need for coding and robotics.

My Students

I teach in the STEM Lab in a low income neighborhood school. Nearly all students qualify and receive free breakfast and lunch daily based on their household income. They come to school early, and many stay late in after care programs.

My students' backgrounds are diverse as are their interests, and they bring a wonderful curiosity to class daily.

They are excited to come to the STEM lab, and love to work together to complete activities and labs.

This year however, we are not able to work cooperatively due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, so we have all become experts using our computers to collaborate.

My Project

This year, my students became expert coders. They programmed Adafruit circuit boards and created their own computer games using Scratch. They participated in programs such as Hour of Code and some even participated in coding competitions.

With an iPad and protective case, my students can be mobile using their technology, extending their learning out of my classroom.

They would be able to share and collaborate with students from other classes and different grade levels.

Additionally, my students are showing a strong interest in LEGO Robotics, and an iPad would be the perfect tool for the students' needs.
