Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come into class excited and ready to be engaged in learning. I teach in a large middle school with a very high number of students from low income backgrounds at a very high poverty school. The students in our school face challenges both in school and out each and every day. These challenges are ones that are sometimes hard to overcome and come with them to school each and every day.
Many of the students in my classroom come from a bilingual home and are on free or reduced-price lunches at school.
This is a lesson they will love and never forget we made in class.
My Project
During remote learning, it can be difficult to have a hands-on learning experience that is not on the computer. These life skills bags will be used at home to bring hands-on learning to life.
My students will be measuring with measuring cups and spoons in the kitchen while making a recipe and following along during a lesson on how to sew a button onto a piece of fabric!
Students will be creating recipes in their kitchens at home with these tools. Students will also be learning a variety of sewing stitches.
