Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first graders are curious, energetic, and full of imagination. They thrive on hands-on activities that allow them to explore, create, and collaborate. Unfortunately, on inclement weather days, when recess must be indoors, they often miss out on the active play and creative outlets they need. Instead of running and playing outside, they are confined to a limited space, and we currently lack engaging materials to keep their minds and bodies active during indoor recess.

Indoor recess is an important opportunity for students to unwind, develop social skills, and work together in new and imaginative ways.

I want to provide my students with materials that will make indoor recess just as exciting and enriching as outdoor play!

To turn indoor recess into an exciting and creative experience, I am requesting several engaging and hands-on materials for my students:

The LEGO set will encourage engineering, problem-solving, and collaboration as they build their own creations.

Magna-Tiles will spark creativity and introduce basic concepts of geometry and design through colorful, magnetic building.

The stamp pads will accompany stamps to help students express themselves artistically through imaginative play and design.

The storage benches will keep these materials organized and easily accessible while doubling as seating space for my students.

These materials will allow my students to unleash their creativity and collaborate with one another during indoor recess. Whether they are constructing towers, crafting stories, or simply building together, these tools will make rainy or snowy days much more enjoyable and productive. In addition, the storage benches will help us maintain a tidy and organized classroom while giving students easy access to all the materials they need.
