Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a very small, rural town. I have a very diverse group of students. My students are diverse in my many ways. I have 8 Hispanic students, 7 African American students, and 4 Caucasian students. Not only are they diverse by ethnicity, I also have a variety of special needs students. I have a student with a hearing impairment, several students with learning needs and more. This area is very high in poverty, free/ reduced lunch, so when it comes to asking for funds or supplies from families, it can be very limited.
My Project
These materials will enhance student engagement by using the whiteboard paddles during instruction and independent station activities. The hanging file folders will be used to help students be independent in keeping up with materials in an organized way. The other hanging file folders and play-doh will be used in a word work station, so students can easily and independently have access to materials when needed. I hope these materials will promote independence and engagement in preparing students for third grade. My students enjoy hands-on learning and I want to be able to do more with my students using these materials.
