This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
"Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime!" My students are thirsty for STEM education, and I want provide an opportunity to spark STEM learning and engage families at home.
School isn’t the only place where learning happens.
The most important classroom is right at home. Many of my students have never thought about a career in STEM, and I want open their minds to the endless possibilities. This amazing group of diverse students could be the future of STEM if given the opportunity. Empowering families is the key to making this project successful. Parents will have the opportunity to help with guidance, decision making, prototyping, and troubleshooting. STEM-based activities bring together many different disciplines of learning to explain how everyday objects and processes work. These skills are developed by problem-solving. I want my students to focus on this skill to engage families at home.
I am requesting a class set of Marble Run kits for designing and building structures. Encouraging and engaging families to work together will help students develop a STEM mindset that will lead to higher education and ultimately lead to jobs needed to shape our world.
