My inner-city students come from various backgrounds where English is not always their native language. We are a Title I school where our students receive 100% free breakfast and lunch. The children in my class come to school wanting to learn and work hard because school is a safe place for them. It is also one of their most favorite places to be.
My students are eager readers who love to learn and be exposed to interesting topics.
They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are an inspiration to me and others around them every single day.
My Project
Since March all teachers have had to change the way they have always taught to meet the varying needs of all of their students. It has not been easy but it is what teachers do so that they can do the best for all of their students.
To support teachers in blended or virtual teaching, the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project community has created nearly 1,500 student-facing minilesson videos across the Units of Study in reading and writing.
Having access to these virtual teaching resources will help me do my very best for my students. It will allow me to use all of the instructional time I have with them to meet their varied and individual learning needs, whether we are learning in school or from a distance at home.
