Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 28 students in a public school in a diverse neighborhood in the Bronx. Our neighborhood is low income, but full of hardworking families who want their children to succeed. The overwhelming majority of my students are English Language Learners, whose English proficiency covers a wide range from "entering" to "expanding" (and everything in between).
My class loves to be interactive with their learning- it keeps them engaged.
On the whole, my students are eager to learn and improve themselves and show their best.
My Project
These six Amazon Fire Tablets with protective covers would be used daily in my classroom, during either math or reading time. During math, we often follow our mini-lesson with "centers"- in the tech center, the students would practice math facts and play math games on educational apps. During reading, students would use a reading app that helps with fluency and comprehension. Additionally, my beginning English Language Learners and lower level readers would use sight word and phonics apps.
These tablets would be an amazing academic resource for us.
The tablets would also be a wonderful incentive for good behavior and hard work throughout the week.
