This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives. ~Clay P. Bedford.
Engaging students in learning is a struggle many teachers face.
Teaching in a high needs school is both challenging and extremely rewarding.
I have a group of third graders who see school as a safe place, one where they can learn and interact with others. Many people are surrounded by computers and phones and unlimited access to technology. For my students this is not always the case. For many of them, access to technology happens in school. This technology helps teachers engage students and get them interested in the topics we are teaching. I am fortunate to have lots of little minds that are eager to learn all about math and science.
My Project
We have been lucky in our classroom to have a smartboard. This piece of equipment is amazing and truly engages students in their learning. It looks like a simple white board, but it is actually a large screen that becomes interactive and kid friendly. However, in order to create these lessons for students we need a laptop that works! It will help students solve real word problems, keep them engaged, and take them on interactive digital field trips!
We work hard to create a positive classroom community.
Students are learning how to interact and create accountable talk in a respectful manner. We are also working on solving real word problems and creating critical thinkers. This laptop will help to provide the foundation to solve problems and work cooperatively with others.
