My Students

Almost all of my students are on the free or reduced-price lunch program, and our school offers 100% free breakfast to students.

Before my students come to the resource room, they’ve already faced many struggles.

My students are fantastic kids! Not only are they kind, smart and thoughtful, but they are also determined to work hard and conquer any bumps that get in their way.

They come in ready to learn and know that our classroom is a safe place to make mistakes and learn from them. They know that they will never be judged here on their abilities or disabilities. With these qualities in our classroom, students help each other learn and grow into better learners, friends, and citizens. They know that they will receive the support and trust of the teacher and the paraprofessionals inside our classroom which helps us dive right into our learning as the day begins.

My Project

When you are in a special education classroom, you will always see numerous and various resources since all students learn differently. Our school is on a budget freeze, which means that I need to purchase these on my own. My students need these resources to assist with their IEP goals and to make their learning fun and engaging.

Since student IEP's are all differentiated and specialized to that particular student, it is important to have many resources that help to fill in each student's program.

These resources will be able to be used now and in the future with other students who may need assistance. These resources will increase the number of resources and programming I can give my students. Many of my students need extra daily practice with math and literacy skills. Daily morning work can be used throughout the day and has work that stretches across all common core standards. This work can be self-corrected and done independently, helping students gain independence, and increase their ability to complete work in a timely fashion. The kindergarten work will help my kindergarten students will their literacy block and writing time.

I have also asked for common core math and language arts goal banks to assist with creating students' IEP goals to make them more specialized for students' needs and differentiation of curriculum.
