This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students need accessible content for learning Spanish as a second language. In our growing global society, it is essential to be bilingual or multilingual. Our Dual Language Immersion school prepares our students academically in both English and Spanish.
Most of our students are learning Spanish as a second language, and we are in need of accessible and engaging content.
Scholastic Ahora Magazine+ has an excellent resource for Spanish Language Learners. The magazines are culturally appropriate and opens up the world for students. Print copies will allow students to highlight and annotate, but the access online provides additional support to aid in comprehension of new vocabulary and content. The online resource allows for music and audio among other interactive features which engages the student in the Spanish language.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
