This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders are fascinated, curious and eager to learn! They live in a small, rural town in south Texas. Our elementary is Title I, with 76% free or reduced-price lunch. We are a classroom family and we love to learn, work and play together! Our school provides comfort and safety to many students that otherwise may not feel as such at home.

Each and every child that enters my room is valued and loved.

They are happy to be here and blessed beyond measure with the support of our school community.

My Project

My second-grade classroom runs on engagement and building independence. I pride myself on my ability to encourage my students through a small group setting. To make it possible to remain fully focused on small groups of students at one time, the other students in the room must be actively participating in their station work. Headphones help to keep students focused on their computer work while blocking out disruptive noise from adjacent stations. Floor seats help make reading comfortable, inviting, and exciting! A great pencil sharpener will help to ease the stress of broken pencils and will help to keep students on task throughout the day in all subject areas.
