Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Being in the classroom, I have noticed that students are distant and would rather connect with their phones than talk to the person next to them. I believe with more engaging and exciting games and activities that include prize incentives, more students would be willing to participate in group activities. This is why I am asking for simple prizes like stickers for water bottles, portfolio books for my seniors, pens, and pencils that can bring some excitement into the classroom. As students play games, they will be motivated to participate in order to earn incentives.

Increased participation will encourage students to problem solve with peers and add to class discussions.

Prizes such as lead pencils and pens will not only be a nice incentive but they can be used during class to take notes and work out math problems as they play games.

Students will play games such as, "Shut the Box" where they will work on addition and probability skills as they make numerical combinations. As students play, they will also open up the channel for good engagement during math lessons, which will develop their social skills.
