Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in NY. Most of our students come from low income families. Our class is an ICT classroom which provides supports to students with disabilities. The disabilities range from speech-language to autism. An ICT classroom has both general education students and special education students who work in groups to help each other. We use all the resources that are possible and given to us to help our students make progress.
Our students work hard with all the resources and materials that they have.
We enjoy seeing our students working together in partnerships.
My Project
My students are English Language Learners and learn through being engaged with a variety of materials. English Language Learners when they hear the language and using a CD player with books on tape will help them hear the English language. We speak to our students daily and it is nice for them to listen to someone else read them a story.
Books on CD help English Language Learners hear the English language and it allows them to be more engaged while following along with the person reading.
Students will be engaged in a listening center in the classroom during literacy centers which will give them another option for engagement in the classroom.
