My Project
Currently, we are reading A Long Walk to Water, by Linda Sue Park. As we read this together, I am seeing very reluctant readers engaged and wanting to keep the fire alive by creating a classroom library where students see titles that are a part of a series to keep them reading once they are engaged with the "first" book. Having access to relevant and interesting books will motivate my students to connect with books more. I currently devote class time to letting students choose and read their own independent reading books, but we lack access to a large library. My students need more exposure to texts that they see as pleasure reading. You can make that possible!
