Each student in my classroom wants to learn but the environment in which they will do their best varies greatly. With cooperative learning groups and flexible seating, my students are driving the learning. My job is to make sure they have all the tools and the rich environment to be successful.
Learning comes in many forms.
Whether that be digital, experimental or hands-on with manipulatives. My students thrive from making choices and different students learn in different ways. I try to create several different avenues for my kiddos to work on tasks.
My students are a versatile bunch. They come from many different backgrounds and are used to be exposed to information in various ways. By creating several different options for them to learn the content, I am able to give them a highly engaging environment.
My Project
Help me give my students centers for hands-on learning. Students absorb knowledge and are able to use that knowledge when they have had multiple avenues of exploration. A key component to that learning are the centers you have available for students to process and use the information being taught.
When students are engaged, the real learning begins!
Having brightly colored task cards, game boards, and manipulatives that can be used over and over again will keep the learning on a roll. It is hands-on and durable for continued use throughout the entire year.
My students love to play games and learning along the way is a bonus. They are learning so much more than the game: leadership, cooperation and patience.
