This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school serves students in poverty. As a Title I school, we are used to going without. Yet our students still have the same needs as others, if not greater needs. My students come from families that cannot provide any of the supplies needed for our school, so we often make due with what we have. This means that we are unable to purchase the things that would better assist my students who have severe learning needs. Despite this, we have passionate learners and teachers that are dedicated to providing the best education possible to our students.
My Project
It is hard to get kids to be excited about learning, or excited about things that they find difficult. It's amazing how quickly their frustration or impatience turns into excitement when you turn that difficult topic into a game!
My students LOVE to play games above all else, so why not reach them at their level and make learning a game?!
Our classroom could easily turn frustration to laughing when students get to buzz in their answer to a subtraction problem using eggspert! They would be much more willing to practice suffixes and prefixes if they were on a giant spinning prize wheel that they got to spin to create a new word!
